Willard Rocks for Children

Students in fifth grade and younger may earn prizes for reading and enjoying books by participating in Willard Rocks Summer Reading Program.

The reading program, which begins Wednesday, June 13, encourages children to read for at least 20 days each month during the summer to earn prizes.

When children have completed 20 days of reading, they may bring their logs to either library and receive prizes and books. For each 20 days of reading, children will receive prizes and books.

Reading activities include:

  • Reading to yourself.
  • Reading to someone else.
  • Having someone read to you.
  • Listening to a story on audio.
  • Using the online Tumblebooks program.

Wandoo Summer Reading Challenge

Anyone interested in an enhanced reading challenge may register for the Willard Rocks 2018 Summer Reading Challenge on Wandoo. Wandoo is an incentive program for children to read during the summer months. It only takes a few minutes to sign up. Reading begins on June 13 and continues through Sept 8.


Teen Summer Reading Program

Teens in fifth through 12th grades may earn prizes for reading and enjoying books this summer. The program begins Wednesday, June 13, and continues through Saturday, Sept. 8.

For reading 10 books teens will receive prizes after filling out a log. Prizes will be awarded after each set of of five books read until Sept. 8, while supplies last. Forms may be turned in at the Teen Room at Willard or the desk at the Helen Warner Branch.

To be eligible for the grand-prize drawing, students must turn in their completed forms by Saturday, Aug. 11. The grand-prize drawing will be conducted on Monday, Aug. 13. The grand-prize entertainment bundles include gift cards, books, and surprises.

The last day to claim prizes for the children's and teens' programs will be Sept. 8.
