Michael McCullough

Community Engagement and Local Digital Collection Librarian

Mac is a journalist, an editor, an activist, a father, an award-winning writer and, for a little over a year now, a librarian. But for this 20-year resident of the greater Battle Creek, all of those jobs add up to the same vocation: building community. After a rewarding career at the Battle Creek Enquirer came to an abrupt end in 2016, Mac struck out to find a role that would allow him stay in and contribute to the community he loves. Willard Library has been a good fit. Mac's assignments at Willard include the development of its historic photo collection and the still evolving role of community engagement librarian, seeking ways that the library can become an even more effective resource for helping residents to create a proud, inspired Battle Creek. You will find him most days on information desk downtown doing what he loves most, listening to guests and helping them find the answers they seek.
