Teen Time Weekday Afternoons

Willard Library welcomes students in fifth through 12th grades back to the library’s Teen Time program on the downtown library’s Lower Level. Students may hang out with friends and enjoy the library after school in a place just for teens.

Activities include:

  • Crafts
  • Board games and video games
  • Button maker
  • Technology (computers in some form, printing, etc.)
  • A safe and fun place to hang out after school!

School days, 2:30-5 p.m., 
Willard Downtown Lower Level,
Students may enter through the building’s side entrance in the parking lot

Celebrate the beginning of summer, the love of reading, and the Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Program at the Summer Reading Kick-off.

Meet some of the Battle Creek Battle Jacks and the team mascot at this fun baseball and carnival themed party.

Pick up the Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading materials and learn about the amazing summer programs the library will offer.

Enjoy music from a DJ, snack on cotton candy and Cracker Jacks, and play carnival games to earn prizes.

Helen Warner Branch Reopening Celebration

Celebrate the reopening of the Helen Warner Branch after it was closed during May for painting and installation of new carpet. And, visit two new special spaces that offer exciting opportunities.

The Dean O. Barnum Amphitheater
The branch library’s amphitheater will be dedicated in memory of Dean O. Barnum, a longtime Battle Creek supporter and philanthropist. New sunshades will be added to the amphitheater.

Joanne TenBrink Creative Space
Calling all makers! The opening will highlight the new equipment capabilities, offer door prizes and include sample craft projects. Bring your questions, curiosity, and excitement as creative technology programs begin at the Helen Warner Branch. The new Creative Space has:

Read With Friends

This family program allows parents and children to sit back and be swept away by a new book. A member of the Youth Services staff will read the first few chapters of the book on video then families may finish reading the book at home. The program is geared for students in grades three through five.

The books will be available at Downtown Children's Room or the Helen Warner Branch while supplies last. In addition, both books are available for free downloading or streaming through Willard’s digital app, Libby.
