Teen Lock-In: Black-light Glow Party

Celebrate the beginning of summer with a lock-in. Grab your friends and join the Youth Services staff after-hours for games, crafts, food, and fun all while glowing under black lights. Wear your best neon attire to show you've got that glow! This program is for those in fifth through 12th grades.

Making Waves Mondays: Instrument Petting Zoo with Rachel Behr

Certified music teacher Rachel Behr will help children explore musical instruments. Participants will make music with other children, who also are learning to play an instrument for the first time. This program is geared for children in kindergarten through second grade.

Let's Go Camping by the Water

Michigan may not be close to an ocean, but we have access to many streams, rivers, and lakes. Join us as we take a pretend camping trip at the library. This hands-on, interactive program includes fun camping crafts and stimulating play to prepare preschoolers to go on an actual camping trip. Participants may drop in any time between 10 a.m. and noon.

Flower Creations with Dew Drop Fresh Designs in Burmese

The flowers are in full bloom so it’s time to pick some and enjoy their beauty. In this program taught entirely in the Burmese language, participants will learn to create a flower crown or flower bouquet. This program features Martha Thawnghmung and Laura Langford, of Dew Drop Fresh Designs, teaching guests how to use a variety of seasonal, garden-fresh flowers to make a unique creation to take home.

Super Tuesday: Air Zoo

Learn more about the ocean with staff members from the Air Zoo! Explore a variety of sea creatures, who call the ocean home; experiment with buoyancy and locomotion techniques; and create a marine critter to take home. Also, learn about the Earth’s limited water resources and how to protect these resources as we find out just how important the oceans are for our future. This program is geared for school-age children and their families.
