Early exposure to talking, singing, playing, reading, and writing are the building blocks of literacy. Children from birth through their second year will enjoy finger-plays, nursery rhymes, rhythmic activities, books, and free play with their caregivers.

Babytime on the Go Bags Available

The October Babytime on the Go Bag for children from birth through their second year pays homage to fall. The bags include a fall-themed board book, a fall colored bib, a rest-easy spoon, and a baby rattle/teether. In addition, it will have an early literacy calendar with a list of activities parents can do to boost brain and vocabulary development.

Beginning Friday, Oct. 1, bags will be available from both libraries while supplies last

Little Explorers' Animals at Night Story Time

Some animals are just opening their eyes to start their days when we are closing ours to go to sleep. Youngsters 3-5 years are invited to join Miss Chelsea and learn about the lives of some nocturnal animals. Children will learn how these animals are able to get around in the dark and what the world looks like for them while we are asleep. October Little Explorers on the Go Bags will include the materials for this program.

Little Explorers: ‘Fall Mixed Up’ Story Time

Children will delight in the telling of this silly story by Miss Beth that switches up everything we think we know about fall. Have we gotten it all wrong or is this book really “Fall Mixed Up"? October Little Explorers on the Go Bags will include the materials to go with this program for children 3-5 years old.

Jump into Fall: Bilingual Story Time in English and Burmese

Jump into Fall with Miss Nicole and Miss Mawi as they explore the season and the many things to enjoy about this time of year. Follow along in English and Burmese as they read “In the Middle of Fall” by Kevin Henkes. Young ones will listen to a story and create two crafts. The crafts will be a fall-themed painting scene and making your own tissue paper fall tree. Supplies for the crafts are included in the October School Age Grab ’n’ Go Kits.

Little Explorers: ‘We're Going on a Leaf Hunt’

Preschoolers are going on a leaf hunt with Miss Nicole! Youngsters will explore the beautiful world of leaves and learn why leaves change color and fall off the trees. Participants will hear the story “We're Going on a Leaf Hunt" by Steve Metzger and enjoy a special leaf hunt. Young ones will receive fall-themed crafts to complete at home. October Little Explorers on the Go Bags will include the materials for this program.
