A look at what's happening at Willard

Dinosaurs kick off Willard’s winter story times

Two preschooolers enjoy the dress-up toys at Wee Ones Winter Play last year.

"How Do Dinosaurs" will be the theme of three special costume character programs to launch the winter story times at Willard Library.

A lot of youngsters love dinosaurs and the How Do Dinosaurs books by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague so we will kick off the preschool winter programs with story times about dinosaurs.

The three story times, which will include stories, crafts, and photo opportunities with the dinosaur, are planned for:

  • 6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 7, Willard
  • 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, Willard
  • 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, Helen Warner Branch.
We have some new story times and some old favorites planned for January, February and March.

Little Explorers will be a new story time that will be offered during January. Little ones and their parents, grandparents and caregivers will enjoy stories, songs, fun and crafts at Little Explorers

Little Explorers will be offered at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 15, 22, and 29 in the Willard Meeting Room and at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays, Jan. 16, 23, and 30, at the Helen Warner Branch.

Wee Ones Winter Play, which will continue in January, offers a morning of fun, free play, which helps with the development of social, cognitive and leadership skills.

Wee Ones will be at 11 a.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 10, 17, 24, and 31, at the Helen Warner Branch.

The Early Childhood Connections Playgroup will be back again on Thursday evenings.

Representatives from ECC offer this parent and child interactive playgroup, which focuses on developmentally appropriate school readiness activities for children from birth to 5 years.

The ECC Playgroup will be from 6-7 p.m. on Thursdays from Jan. 17 through Feb. 14, Feb. 28 through March 28, and April 11 through May 23 in the Willard Meeting Room.

Kristine Pioch is Willard's public relations librarian. She is currently reading "The Wind in My Hair" by Masih Alnejad.
