A look at what's happening at Willard

Holiday entertaining--Let us help you!

It's that time of year when we are supposed to give thanks for all that is good in our lives and spend time with loved ones. Leisurely put up the holiday decorations while sipping eggnog and listen to festive music. Find the PERFECT gift for everyone on our list.

The reality is that many of us dash around in panic mode, stressed beyond belief, trying to finish our shopping, plan a menu and wrap gifts before our guests arrive.

This year, let Willard help! While we cannot finish your shopping or clean your house, the library offers products and services that may make life a little easier.

Entertaining and menu planning

Whether you are looking for recipes or decor ideas, Willard has a huge selection of cookbooks and books on home decor. There is also an entire collection dedicated to all things Christmas! Here are a few of the new arrivals.

Holiday gifts

In the way of gift ideas, again, we have tons of DIY books. But, did you know that the downtown location has vinyl cutters and a 3D printer available to guests? The Silhouette vinyl cutting machines are perfect for making personalized gifts. You are able to print designs, logos and initials on adhesive vinyl. Transfer your creation onto a T-shirt or coffee mug. The possibilities are endless!

New to Willard, is a 3D printer! The printer is operated by our creative services librarian, but you are able to watch it in action from the window of The Studio in the downtown Media Department. Submit jobs at tinyurl.com/WL3Dprinting  and pick them up when they are done! The cost is 10 cents a gram to print. If you need inspiration, the website Thingiverse.com, has thousands of free project files. I just had a bird feeder printed as a gift!

Holiday music via Hoopla

Lastly, if you are looking for festive holiday music for your get-together, try Hoopla! It's a streaming service that offers music, movies, audiobooks and more! The service is included with your library card.

There are a few librarian curated lists of holiday music available under the Categories tab. Look for the lists titled "Holiday Party Music," "Traditional Christmas," and "Christmas: Cool Yule Jazz." You can borrow entire music albums for seven days.

From all of us at Willard, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

April is currently listening to the audiobook, "The Starless Sea" by Erin Morgenstern and streaming the new "Frozen 2" soundtrack on Hoopla.
