A new resource, MyFreeTaxes, is available to help people who earned less than $66,000 last year file their 2018 taxes online.
We are really excited about this new website, which has been made available by a partnership between the United Way and H&R Block.
The library will continue to be a resource for people to pick up their federal, state, and city tax forms.
The MyFreeTaxes website provides free online filing for state and federal taxes for those earning less than $66,000 in 2018. Taxpayers may file both their federal and state returns for free at the website, MyFreeTaxes.com.
MyFreeTaxes is powered by H&R Block software, so filing is easy and secure, the website said. Also, the software scans for any tax credit filers may be entitled to, making sure everyone receives their maximum refund.
Goodwill Industries is again offering free tax help through its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance/Tax Counseling for the Elderly program. For information follow the link or call 2-1-1.
The Federal 1040 Booklets, which include the forms, and the 1040 instruction booklets are now available.
The State of Michigan booklets are available in the lobby, and the Michigan Home Heating Credit and Homestead Property tax forms are available at the Information Desk.
Local forms for the City of Battle Creek and the City of Springfield are available in the library lobbies.
If you need other forms, such as schedules, you may ask librarians at the Information Desk to print them out for you.
While the librarians are not tax professionals and cannot give advice, we will help you get the tax forms you need.
