Shelf. Life

A look at what's happening at Willard

Welcome to Shelf. Life.

Welcome!

Willard Library is committed to creating a community of readers and a world of possibilities. The name of this new blog playfully reflects an important component of this philosophy: the intersection of your life with library services. A book on a shelf is an object; an open book in your hands is a collection of ideas or adventures. With that in mind, welcome to Shelf. Life.

Shelf. Life. will provide a sneak peak of services and programs in development, insights into what library staff are reading and watching, and a chance to celebrate some of the programs that you might not have heard about elsewhere. Different librarians will be contributing stories, so you will have a chance to learn more about the interests of staff at both library locations.

My colleagues and I look forward to sharing our library experiences with you, and we hope this blog will also give you one more way to communicate with us. Have an idea? Did we miss something? Please let us know in the comments or at your next visit.

If you and I have crossed paths in the community, you may have heard me talking about how libraries are more than book repositories, how public libraries offer their guests an in-person experience while also extending the convenience of digital access, and how Willard Library is devoted to responding to the information needs of the Battle Creek community. I hope you'll see Shelf. Life. as one more sign of that commitment.
