April Dillinger

Deputy Director of Administration

Libraries have been in my blood for a long time. My first job was as a shelver at my hometown library. It was here that I fell in love with libraries and decided to pursue a career in the information science field.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Michigan State University and then earned a master’s degree in library and information science from Wayne State University.

Upon graduating in 2009, I was fortunate to join Willard as a reference librarian.

Before becoming deputy director, I oversaw the Acquisitions and Technical Services Department. In that role, I loved being a part of the behind-the-scenes process of ordering, cataloging and processing materials for Willard guests. It is exciting to open the boxes and see all the brand new books just waiting to be read!

Since January 2020, I have been deputy director of administration. I oversee budget and financial analysis, collection development and value, statistical reports and analysis. I am excited to be a part of the Willard team and construct innovative ways to connect with the Battle Creek community.

In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and audio books, knitting, crafting, and spending time with my family.
