What Is It?

Free books! Each month, your child will receive a carefully selected book mailed directly to your home. Children will continue to receive books every month until they turn 5 years old, as long as they remain residents of the Greater Battle Creek Area.

Who Qualifies?

Any child younger than age 5 who lives within an eligible school district: Battle Creek Public Schools, Harper Creek Community Schools, Lakeview School District, and Pennfield School District.

Why Should I Sign Up?

Books in the home are the single biggest indicator of academic success — surpassing income, parents’ education, family composition, and all other factors.

When Will My Child Start Receiving Books?

Eight to 10 weeks after your registration has been received, books will begin arriving at your home and will continue to do so every month until your child turns 5 or until you move out of the Greater Battle Creek Area.

What Do I Need to Do?

• Child must reside in the Greater Battle Creek Area.

• Fill out this online form, or fill out this linked form and return to the CISD Early Childhood Services Dept. (475 ROOSEVELT AVE E BATTLE CREEK MI 49017), or contact the CISD Early Childhood Services Dept. at 269-660-1606, ext. 6155, to sign up.

• Notify CISD Early Childhood Office any time your child’s address or information changes so that your child continues to receive books.
